THE PIECE

THE PIECE · Q.01

What exactly is "the piece"?

One of your own tattoos, rebuilt by hand in code from your original stencil, and performed: blank paper, the drawing builds itself the way you drew it, registration locks, a shutter fires, and the drawing becomes the photograph of the finished work on skin. Then it stays alive — small, precise behaviours that never stop. It exists nowhere else, at any price.

THE PIECE · Q.02

Is it AI-generated?

No. Every piece is handcrafted in written code, individually, line by line. Nothing is generated; everything is measured. A piece takes roughly as long to build as the tattoo itself took to make — counted in hours of work, not clicks. That is the point. Generated work has no failed attempts. Ours do, and we keep the records.

THE PIECE · Q.03

Which of my tattoos gets rebuilt?

We choose it together. The strongest candidates are shot straight on, whole piece in frame, with the original stencil still in existence. Send two or three and I will tell you honestly which will make the strongest piece. One exceptional piece beats five good ones.

THE PIECE · Q.04

What do I need to send you?

Three things: your original stencil, the highest-resolution photograph of the finished tattoo you have, and ten minutes of your time. We provide a private upload link so nothing gets compressed on the way to us.

THE PIECE · Q.05

What if I do not have the original stencil?

Tell me and we will work it out. Sometimes it can be recovered from a high-resolution photograph, though it costs more time and the result is less exact. If you are choosing between pieces, choose one you still have the drawing for. It will be better.

THE PIECE · Q.06

What if the tattoo is on a curved part of the body?

That is fine, and it is honest to the process. Your stencil is flat when you draw it. It only becomes curved when it goes on the body. So the moment the drawing becomes the photograph is exactly the moment flat becomes curved. That is not something to hide — it is what happened.

THE PIECE · Q.07

Do I need my client's permission?

We would ask them. The design is yours, but it is on their body, and most people are proud to have their piece shown properly. If they would rather not, choose another piece. It is not worth a difficult conversation.

THE PIECE · Q.08

Does my photograph get altered?

Never. The photograph is sacred. The reveal ends on your photograph, pixel for pixel — the exact image you were proud of the day you posted it. We verify this with a test, not a promise.

THE PIECE · Q.09

Can my own clients buy a piece of their tattoo?

Yes. Once your site is live, you can offer your clients the performed version of their own tattoo — a product you sell, at a price you set. Your work, twice.

THE WEBSITE

THE WEBSITE · Q.10

Is this a template?

No. Nothing starts from a template. Before a single design decision is made, our engine reads your entire presence — your work, your reviews, your following, your style — and the site is built from what you have actually made: your colour, your typography, your pace. Two INDELEBLE sites will never look alike, because two artists never do.

THE WEBSITE · Q.11

What does a build include?

The complete site: your work at full resolution in the order you would choose, enquiry capture so every interested client becomes a contact you own, search optimisation — including being found by AI assistants, which is where searches are going — a private archive of your images, and the piece. Music, composed for your work, if you want it.

THE WEBSITE · Q.12

How long does it take?

Two to three weeks from the point we have everything we need from you. The piece takes about two weeks on its own; the site is built alongside it. You get a real timeline before we start, and you see the work as it happens.

THE WEBSITE · Q.13

Will it look right on a phone?

It is designed on a phone before it is designed anywhere else, because that is where your clients are standing when they decide.

THE WEBSITE · Q.14

What languages?

English and Spanish as standard, with a switch on the site. Others on request — your clients decide your languages, not us.

THE WEBSITE · Q.15

I already have a website.

Then you already know whether it is working. If it loads slowly, looks like it was made in 2014, and shows your work at thumbnail size, that is not neutral — it tells everyone who lands on it something you do not mean to say. Put it into the audit box on the recut page and we will send you a full report on where it stands. Free, no obligation, whether you work with us or not.

THE WEBSITE · Q.16

I am not technical at all.

You do not need to be. You send your work and your words. We do the rest.

THE WEBSITE · Q.17

Can I update it myself afterwards?

Yes. Adding new pieces and changing your text is straightforward and we will show you how. If you would rather we did it, ask.

THE WEBSITE · Q.18

Will people find it on Google?

That is built in from the start rather than added later — the structure, the descriptions, the local search signals, and being readable by AI assistants when someone asks one for a tattooist in your city. It is not magic and it is not instant. But it works, and Instagram gives you none of it.

INSTAGRAM & OWNERSHIP

INSTAGRAM & OWNERSHIP · Q.19

Do I have to stop using Instagram?

No — keep it. Instagram is the megaphone; the site is the gallery. One announces the work, the other holds it at full resolution, in your order, forever. The problem was never the feed. The problem is that the feed is the only place your life's work lives.

INSTAGRAM & OWNERSHIP · Q.20

What happens if my account disappears tomorrow?

Your site keeps working, your gallery keeps standing, your enquiries keep arriving. We have two artists' first-hand accounts of losing everything in a morning with no appeal — read them on this site. Every build also comes with our backup guide, so what you have made is never held in one company's hands again.

INSTAGRAM & OWNERSHIP · Q.21

Why would it happen to me?

Because of what you post. Bare skin, close up, every single time. That is exactly what the automatic filters hunt for. You are not at risk because you did something wrong — you are at risk because of what tattooing is.

INSTAGRAM & OWNERSHIP · Q.22

Can you turn my followers into an email list?

Honestly: no — and nobody can. Meta's export gives you usernames only, never contact details. Anyone promising to recover your audience as a contactable list is lying to you. What we build instead works forward: from the day your site is live, every enquiry becomes a contact you own, in a database nobody can take away.

INSTAGRAM & OWNERSHIP · Q.23

Who owns the website?

You do. The domain is yours. The content is yours. The enquiries are yours. That is the entire argument.

WORKING TOGETHER

WORKING TOGETHER · Q.24

What does it cost?

Every build is priced individually, because every artist and every piece is different — tell us who you are and we will give you a real number, not a menu. For most artists it is less than you will spend on ink and cartridges this year, for something that works for you permanently.

WORKING TOGETHER · Q.25

Is there an ongoing cost?

The domain and hosting, which are small and yearly. We tell you exactly what they are before you commit, and you can pay them directly rather than through us if you would rather. There is no subscription and nothing that stops working if you stop paying us.

WORKING TOGETHER · Q.26

Do I pay everything up front?

No. Part at the start, the rest when it is finished and you are happy with it.

WORKING TOGETHER · Q.27

What if I do not like it?

You see it before it goes live and we change what needs changing. We would rather spend an extra week getting it right than put something out you are not proud of. We are not going to put our name at the bottom of something you do not like either.

WORKING TOGETHER · Q.28

How do we start?

Send your handle and the piece you are proudest of, on WhatsApp or through the enquiry form. A conversation, not a pitch.

WORKING TOGETHER · Q.29

Where are you, and do you work worldwide?

The studio is in Costa Rica. The work is worldwide — every build happens remotely, in your language, on your timeline.

WORKING TOGETHER · Q.30

What about my rights and credit?

Your work remains yours, always. Every piece carries your name, your handle, your city. Nothing of yours is ever shown on INDELEBLE's own site without your written permission, and you can withdraw it at any time.

WORKING TOGETHER · Q.31

Why tattoo artists only?

Because the most permanent art form in the world is documented on the least permanent medium there is — and because you respect craft, which means you can recognise it. We would rather be everything to one trade than something to every trade.
